APPROVALS 

Approved and Regulated by the Texas Workforce Commission, Career Schools and Colleges, Austin, Texas. 

SPACE, FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT 

DevMountain’s Dallas campus is located in the historic Butler Brothers Building. The 10,500 square foot space includes multiple classrooms, workshops with computer monitors and power accommodations, snack/lounge areas, and parking. The space is fully accessible to persons with disabilities.

RIGHT TO CHANGE REQUIREMENTS 

Neither this Catalog, nor any of the information and requirements herein, constitute a contract or create any contractual commitments between DevMountain and any student, prospective student, or third party. The information contained in this Catalog is regularly updated and subject to change without notice. All updates to this Catalog will be posted to DevMountain’s website

SCHOOL POLICIES 

Enrollment Periods Enrollment periods begin three to four months in advance of a cohort start date and end within 10 days of the cohort start date.

Holidays to Be Observed 

Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day Daily 

Class Schedule 

Students are expected to attend each day of the entire cohort, and are required to be present from 9am–5pm Monday – Friday. During instruction periods, ten minute breaks are provided for every 50 minutes of instruction. A one hour lunch break (generally from 12:30pm–1:30pm) is also afforded. During lab periods, students are free to break as necessary. 

Office Hours 

DevMountain office hours schedule is M-F from 9:00am-5:00pm. However our space is open and available to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, excepting the days the school will be closed.

Web Development Immersive 

$11,900 (This number includes a seat deposit) 

Tuition costs are all-inclusive. There are no additional fees for application, registration, tuition, books, supplies, equipment, tutoring or graduation.

Deposit and Tuition Payment 

A $450 seat deposit is required to be paid within seven days of acceptance. If tuition deposit is not received within seven days, the student will be dropped from the cohort. If payment is made after seven days, readmission to the cohort will be allowed on a space-available basis, or a student may be deferred to a future cohort. 

Tuition payment in full, or payment arrangements with a partner lender for the entire balance, is required before attending class.

Cancellation and Refund Policies 

Cancellation of Application 

If at any time prior to acceptance the student decides to cancel his or her application, he or she may do so without any financial penalty whatsoever. After the application process and immediately preceding acceptance, the student has seven days to decide whether to enroll in the course and pay the initial tuition deposit. 

Early Program Cancellation Policy 

A refund will be made to any student who cancels the enrollment contract within 72 hours (until midnight of the third day excluding Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays) after the enrollment contract is signed. A refund will also be made to any student who cancels enrollment within the student’s first three scheduled class days, except that the school may retain not more than $100 in any administrative fees charged, as well as items of extra expense that are necessary for the portion of the program attended and stated separately on the enrollment agreement.

Refund Policy 

1. Refund computations will be based on scheduled course time of class attendance through the last date of attendance. Leaves of absence, suspensions and school holidays will not be counted as part of the scheduled class attendance. 

2. The effective date of termination for refund purposes will be the earliest of the following: 

(a) The last day of attendance, if the student is terminated by the school; 

(b) The date of receipt of written notice from the student; or (c) Ten school days following the last date of attendance. 

3. If tuition and fees are collected in advance of entrance, and if after expiration of the 72 hour cancellation privilege the student does not enter school, not more than $100 in any administrative fees charged shall be retained by the school for the entire residence program or synchronous distance education course. 

4. If a student enters a residence or synchronous distance education program and withdraws or is otherwise terminated after the cancellation period, the school or college may retain not more than $100 in any administrative fees charged for the entire program. The minimum refund of the remaining tuition and fees will be the pro rata portion of tuition, fees, and other charges that the number of hours remaining in the portion of the course or program for which the student has been charged after the effective date of termination bears to the total number of hours in the portion of the course or program for which the student has been charged, except that a student may not collect a refund if the student has completed 75 percent or more of the total number of hours in the portion of the program for which the student has been charged on the effective date of termination. 

5. As applicable, refunds for items of extra expense to the student, such as books, tools, or other supplies are to be handled separately from refund of tuition and other academic fees. The student will not be required to purchase instructional supplies, books and tools until such time as these materials are required. Once these materials are purchased, no refund will be made. For refunds, the school can withhold costs for these types of items from the refund as long as they were necessary for the portion of the program attended and separately stated in the enrollment agreement. Any such items not required for the portion of the program attended must be included in the refund.

6. A student who withdraws for a reason unrelated to the student’s academic status after the 75 percent completion mark and requests a grade at the time of withdrawal shall be given a grade of “incomplete” and permitted to re-enroll in the course or program during the 12-month period following the date the student withdrew without payment of additional tuition for that portion of the course or program. 

7. A refund of all tuition and fees is due and refundable in each of the following cases: 

(a) An enrollee is not accepted by the school; 

(b) If the course of instruction is discontinued by the school and this prevents the student from completing the course; or 

(c) If the student's enrollment was procured as a result of any misrepresentation in advertising, promotional materials of the school, or representations by the owner or representatives of the school.

A full or partial refund may also be due in other circumstances of program deficiencies or violations of requirements for career schools and colleges.

Refund Policy for Students Called To Active Military Service 

1. A student of the school or college who withdraws from the school or college as a result of the student being called to active duty in a military service of the United States or the Texas National Guard may elect one of the following options for each program in which the student is enrolled: (a) If tuition and fees are collected in advance of the withdrawal, a pro rata refund of any tuition, fees, or other charges paid by the student for the program and a cancellation of any unpaid tuition, fees, or other charges owed by the student for the portion of the program the student does not complete following withdrawal; 

(b) A grade of incomplete with the designation "withdrawn-military" for the courses in the program, other than courses for which the student has previously received a grade on the student's transcript, and the right to re-enroll in the program, or a substantially equivalent program if that program is no longer available, not later than the first anniversary of the date the student is discharged from active military duty without payment of additional tuition, fees, or other charges for the program other than any previously unpaid balance of the original tuition, fees, and charges for books for the program; or 

(c) The assignment of an appropriate final grade or credit for the courses in the program, but only if the instructor or instructors of the program determine that the student has: (1) satisfactorily completed at least 90 percent of the required coursework for the program; and (2) demonstrated sufficient mastery of the program material to receive credit for completing the program. 

2. The payment of refunds will be totally completed such that the refund instrument has been negotiated or credited into the proper account(s), within 60 days after the effective date of termination.

Admission Requirements 

Applicants must meet the following admission requirements: 

1. Be at least 18 years of age. 

2. Submit an application through https://devmounta.in/. 

3. Select desired cohort. 

4. Participate in a telephone consultation with a member of the DevMountain Admissions team. As part of the telephone consultation, applicants are evaluated on prior relevant experience and familiarity with basic coding principles. 

5. No minimum education level is required for acceptance into our program; however applicants must complete the DevMountain Coding Challenge in conjunction with the telephone consultation. Based on the Admissions team’s initial evaluation, applicants are given a series of coding challenge exercises of varying difficulty. Points are awarded for successful completion of each exercise, which means the applicant writes a solution to the exercise that is accepted by precourse.devmountain.com. 

Upon completion of the application steps, the DevMountain Admissions team evaluates each applicant and his/her abilities, aptitude, and general likelihood of success in a DevMountain program. If a student is accepted, he or she will receive an acceptance email with instructions on how to complete the precourse work, pay the tuition deposit, and how to arrange to begin attending class.

Transfer of Credit 

DevMountain’s curriculum does not require any prior knowledge or experience. Any prior credit with an educational institution is not advantageous to DevMountain’s courses or curriculum. DevMountain does not accept any previous credit earned at other educational institutions. 

Due to the short and intensive nature of the class session, transfers of credit from previous trainings are not accepted. Students may choose to participate in the program in its entirety or not. 

DevMountain's program is entirely competency/skills based. The transferability of DevMountain coursework to another institution is solely at the discretion of that institution.

Attendance and Absence Policy 

Students are required to attend every session of class, and be present for the entire session period, unless approved by the Lead Instructor beforehand. Students are responsible for their own attendance and no institutional assistance is given to individuals who have to miss class sessions for any reason. If students miss two days of class, they will be considered to be on probation, if they miss three days without cause, they will be terminated from the program. Students who are terminated may reapply and be considered for readmittance. No make-up work is permitted unless previously authorized by program directors or administrators on a case-by-case basis.

Satisfactory Progress and Probation 

Since each DevMountain class is progressive and cumulative, DevMountain enforces strict standards of progress during the classes. Student Success personnel and daily reporting and assessment mechanisms allow administrative faculty a high level of transparency into the progress of each student. If a student is fails any course (See Grading Policy), he or she will be placed on probation and offered remedial assistance. If the student is still unable to pass a course after repeating a week of instruction twice, he or she will be asked to defer to a future cohort to ensure sufficient time is given to master the material.

Under Texas education code, section 132.061(F) a student who is obligated for the full tuition may request a grade of “incomplete” if the student withdraws for an appropriate reason unrelated to the student's academic status. A student who receives a grade of incomplete may reenroll in the program during the 12-month period following the date the student withdraws and complete those incomplete subjects without payment of additional tuition for that portion of the course or program. 

If a student returns at a time where classes are no longer available, the school will offer commensurate accommodations in another state or in the case of nothing comparable being available, a pro-rated or full refund will be available, where applicable.

Grading Policy 

DevMountain does not assign letter grades or numeric scores for student coursework. Students are tracked on performance and are issued a pass/fail status for each course by program instructors and administrators. In order to pass a course, students must demonstrate all required competencies within a course, if a student does not meet course expectations as defined and cannot demonstrate mastery of the published competencies, they will be issued a “Fail” status and may be placed on probation or will be asked to defer to a future cohort. 

Successful completion of a course (“Pass”) is demonstrated through “No-Server,” personal and group projects. Project scope is determined by student/mentor/lead instructor collaboration and is assessed on code quality and completeness, use of the subject areas covered, and holistic impact and depth.

Code of Conduct 

DevMountain requires that all students conduct themselves and treat their fellow students and DevMountain staff in a manner that is respectful honest and ethical. In addition, students are expected to complete projects by the given deadlines, clean their workstations daily, treat the class locations with respect, and refrain from smoking at any DevMountain location. Students engaging in conduct which DevMountain finds to be dishonest, disrespectful, disruptive to the learning or living environment, or unlawful will be subject to removal from the program. 

Violations of this policy include, but are not limited to:  

  • Plagiarism  

  • Participation in the program while under the influence of drugs or alcohol  

  • Discrimination or harassment  

  • Theft or intentional destruction of physical or intellectual property

DevMountain students and staff may report suspected violations of this Code of Conduct to the Campus Director. DevMountain will notify the student alleged of having violated the Code of Conduct and allow that student an opportunity to respond to the allegation. DevMountain will then review the incident and issue a written determination. Students found to have violated the Code of Conduct may receive sanctions up to and including dismissal from DevMountain’s program and facilities. DevMountain’s decision is final and not subject to further review.

Discrimination, Harassment and Assault 

DevMountain is committed to providing a learning environment free of discrimination, harassment and assault. DevMountain does not tolerate harassment, assault, or discrimination on the basis of gender, age, race, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or marital status. Retaliation against any person for reporting an alleged violation or participating in the investigation is also prohibited. Anyone may report an alleged violation of this policy to the Campus Director. DevMountain will notify the person(s) alleged to have violated this policy and allow that person the opportunity to respond to the allegation. DevMountain will then review the incident and issue a written determination. Students found to have violated this policy may receive sanctions up to and including dismissal from DevMountain’s program and facilities. DevMountain’s decision is final and not subject to further review. 

In addition, any voluntary romantic or sexual relationship between a student and a DevMountain employee who is in a position of authority with respect to the student constitutes prohibited conduct under this policy and should be reported to DevMountain. If DevMountain determines such a relationship exists, DevMountain will adjust the employee’s position of authority to eliminate the existence of the prohibited relationship. 

Withdrawal 

Students will be terminated from DevMountain if they violate the polices set forth in the Catalog, including the Attendance and Absence, Code of Conduct, and Discrimination Harassment and Assault policies, or if they fail to maintain Satisfactory Progress. Students who are terminated may reapply and may be considered for readmittance unless otherwise dictated by the terms of the student’s termination.

Student Grievances and Complaints

Initial Resolution Process 

Before filing a formal complaint or grievance, a student is encouraged to make a good faith effort to confer with the party against whom he or she has a grievance in order to achieve a fair and reasonable resolution to the grievance by informal means.

Formal Resolution Process 

If the student does not receive an adequate resolution, he or she may submit a formal grievance to the Campus Director. This information must include:  

  • The individual(s) against whom the grievance is directed.  

  • A brief description of the grievance, including the date(s), time(s), and place(s).  

  • Any efforts to resolve the matter during the initial resolution process.  

  • The corrective action being sought.

The Campus Director will review the grievance, and will issue a decision and resolution to be implemented within five calendar days.

Formal Appeal Process 

If either party chooses to appeal the Campus Director’s decision, he or she must submit a formal appeal request to the Vice President of Operations. The appeal request must be submitted within three calendar days of being notified of the Campus Director’s decision. 

Upon receiving the appeal request, the Vice President of Operations will review the grievance and the Campus Director’s decision the Vice President of Operations will issue a decision and report it to all involved parties within five calendar days. The decision of the Vice President of Operations is final.

External Resolution Process 

If the student’s complaint cannot be resolved after exhausting DevMountain’s grievance procedure, the student may contact the Texas Workforce Commission:

Student Records 

All student academic and financial records are maintained by DevMountain and filed in a secure and safe manner in perpetuity. Official records will be provided to the student at no charge, upon request. Should DevMountain cease operation, educational records shall be filed with the Texas Workforce Commission within 15 days of ceasing operations.

Graduation Requirements 

Students are eligible for graduation upon successful completion of all program requirements, including coursework and projects, as described in the Catalog. Successful completion of program requirements is determined by completing and receiving a “Pass” status on all courses (See Grading Policy).

Students who successfully complete all courses will be allowed to graduate, and will be eligible to receive a Certificate of Completion on the last day of the cohort. 

Placement Services 

DevMountain offers Placement Assistance with each Immersive cohort. Assistance takes the form of workshops and instruction, networking events (including hiring events), and after-class introductions and job leads as they become available and as appropriate. DevMountain does not promise employment or any certain salary as a result of program completion. DevMountain's expected learning outcomes provide proficient training of what is expected of a junior Web developer in today's workforce.
